Fort Mill High School Band Honors Local Heroes in France

At BNA CPAs & Advisors, we believe strong communities are built through service, remembrance, and investing in future generations. We were proud to support the Fort Mill High School Band as they traveled to France over Memorial Day weekend to honor local heroes who served during World War I and World War II.
As part of the Notes for Heroes: Memorial Day 2026 initiative, the band performed at the St. Mihiel American Cemetery in eastern France during a special Memorial Day ceremony honoring soldiers from Fort Mill who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

The trip carried deep historical significance. The Battle of St. Mihiel, fought in September 1918, marked the first major American-led offensive of World War I. Today, more than 4,000 American soldiers are buried at the cemetery, including Pvt. William G. Patterson of Fort Mill.
The ceremony also honored local soldiers who lost their lives during WWII. Through music and remembrance, students helped preserve the stories and sacrifices of these hometown heroes for future generations.

Beyond the performance itself, the trip gave students the opportunity to engage directly with history, represent the Fort Mill community abroad, and participate in a meaningful cultural experience.

BNA was honored to support this meaningful initiative and the students, educators, and families involved. We are grateful for organizations like the Fort Mill Band Association that continue creating opportunities connecting young people to service, leadership, and community impact.
