Meet Ashley Taylor: The CPA Leading BNA’s Tax Team
For Ashley Taylor, CPA, a career in tax brings together two things she has always enjoyed: problem-solving and helping people.
Ashley joined BNA CPAs & Advisors in 2017 and now serves as Head of Tax. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, she holds bachelor’s degrees in Accountancy and Finance, with a concentration in Risk, Insurance and Financial Planning.
Ashley found her path to tax during an internship.
“During my internship, I was exposed to tax and really enjoyed how it combined problem-solving with working directly with people. I also liked the collaborative nature of the work and being part of a team. That experience confirmed that tax was the right path for me.”
Leading BNA’s Tax Team
Ashley became Head of Tax in June 2025, a role that reflects both her technical expertise and the trust she has earned since joining BNA in 2017. Today, she oversees the day-to-day operations of the tax department, supports her team, looks for ways to improve processes, and continues expanding her own tax knowledge.
For Jason Ackerman, CPA, CFP®, CGMA, Co-Managing Partner, Ashley’s leadership goes beyond her technical skills.
It’s rare to find someone who is both technically strong and genuinely great with people. Ashley has a way of bringing people together to solve problems and make BNA better every day. We couldn’t be happier to have her leading our tax team.
For Ashley, however, leadership is less about the title and more about helping others succeed.
“The part I enjoy most is seeing someone on the team take on something new, grow from the experience, and become more confident in their abilities.”
That commitment is something Erin Riley, CPA, has experienced firsthand after working closely with Ashley since 2019.
“Ashley is always willing to sit down and help anyone—whether they’re in tax, administration, or another department—no matter how busy she is,” says Erin.
“She cares deeply about our team and making BNA the best work environment it can be. She wants employees to feel respected and appreciated, and for BNA to be a place people are proud to be part of.”
Helping Customers Navigate Complexity
Ashley especially enjoys working with multi-state returns and nexus issues, helping businesses determine where they have filing requirements and work through the complexities that can come with operating across state lines.
“I like the problem-solving that comes with figuring out where a business has filing requirements and making sure we are getting it right.”
Ashley’s technical expertise and ability to work through complex tax issues make her an important resource for both BNA’s tax team and the customers they serve.
That commitment to the quality of BNA’s work is something Erin sees in Ashley as well.
“She also wants to help uphold the high standards the community has for the services we provide.”
Giving Back to the Community
Outside of BNA, Ashley serves on the boards of the Fort Mill History Museum and the Early Learning Partnership of York County.
For Ashley, those roles are another way to use her skills, build relationships, and support the community she calls home.
“I enjoy being able to give back to my community while also using my skills to help organizations I care about.”
Beyond the Office
Originally from Racine, Wisconsin, Ashley enjoys reading and baking when she’s away from the office.
One thing people may be surprised to learn about her? Ashley is a twin.
“Growing up with a twin has definitely shaped who I am and made having a built-in best friend pretty special.”
